Before my first pump to Iraq i had the opportunity to attend the OMES trauma course. At the end of this course there was a live tissue portion where we got the chance to use a variety of different tourniquets to stop a massive arterial bleed and the nato tourniquet made a huge impression on me due to it effectiveness. in my opinion the nato tourniquets are much more effective that the cats or soft t's. Easier to manipulate and get tight enough to stop an arterial bleed. I teach TCCC at naval hospital Jacksonville now, and per circlum i have to teach using the cats but i always give a demo using the nato tourniquet. Unlike the CAT 2's they wont get brittle and break when exposed to the elements, the velcro on the cats tend to malfunction when exposed to dirt or blood. Im not saying the the cats aren't a valuable life saving tool but the nato is much more effective and reliable when it comes to stopping a massive hemorrhage to an extremity.
I also have combat trauma experience with the nato and they prove to be effective.

As a law enforcement officer in uniform or out this is a great go to piece of life saving equipment. This is not meant to replace existing tourniquets but is a awesome everyday tourniquet that is not rigid with a but of plastic pieces on it. It's also great option for out with the family and extremely low profile. Two thumbs up!

Great everyday carry piece of gear. Slim and low profile. Perfect to throw in a pocket.
